Therapists and Autism Specialists

Now that your child has a diagnosis you can begin to work with it. Remember no one is going to cure autism and magically "fix" your child's autism but there are different therapist and Autism specialists that can help your child reach their potential and became a responsible adult. Don't be put off by the word therapist. Some people associate therapists and therapy with being crazy or insane but Autism therapists do not lay your child on a couch and analyze their dreams or pick apart their actions to put blame on their mothers, they work to modify different behaviors and skills to help your child reach their potential. Contact your local health department to learn about services that are free to individuals with special needs. Since there are various degrees of autism children will have various levels of capability, always push your child to do their best and try not to judge them against anyone else. Autism is very individual, no two people experience it in the same way. Some children have severe speech, motor, behavioral, academic and social difficulties. While some children only have minor speech, motor, behavioral, social and academic difficulties. Then there are children who have a combination of minor to severe spectral difficulties.
